The Cherating Turtle Sanctuary is a must visit for animal lovers and travellers who are passionate about conservation of wildlife. The centre ensures the survival of turtles when they lay their eggs on land between April and August. The centre also offers night visits where you can observe the egg laying process, turtle hatching as well as the release of hatchlings back to nature. Travellers can also take a ride down the Cherating Stream where you can catch fireflies along the mangroves. There are also many local shops where locals hand weave mats, hats, bags and other souvenirs. You can also get to experience and enjoy culture display of wayang kulit, silat and batik artwork.
