Pulau Rawa, Mersing, Johor is located 16km east of Mersing town. It is a small island that is surrounded by clean blue waters and boost a spotless white coral sand beach on its western shores. Jungle vegetation and jagged cliffs dominate the island behind the beach front. It is only 30 minutes from Mersing Jetty via speed boat or 1 hour via regular ferry.
There are no inhabitants on the island and to preserve its pristine condition, only two small resorts were developed. The Rawa island resort is a bigger set up with villas and bungalows while there is a small cluster of chalets called the Alang Rawa on the other side of the beach. There is no TV, no internet, no crowds and no reason to rush for time. This little oasis allows you to celebrate the simplest pleasure of life – good food, great company and splendid nature beauty. It is the perfect spot for a quiet weekend getaway and a genuinely untouched island.
A short walk up some steps will lead you to the top of the cliffs will offer you the perfect spot to view sun rise and also a panoramic view of the nearby islands. You can rent a canoe and take in the 360 view of the small island or simply swim and snorkel in the clear blue water. Other activities such as beach volleyball, wind surfing as well as fishing tours can be arranged at your request. However, we recommend that you simply do nothing! Lie on the beach and enjoy the sun, the sea, and the breeze.
