Redang Island or Pulau Redang, Terengganu, Malaysia is about 45 kilometres off the north-eastern coast of the state. The island is made famous by a popular Hong Kong movie “Summer Holiday” depicting scenes of crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. The island enjoys tropical climate all year, with distinct wet and dry seasons. From November to March, the Northeast monsoon brings heavy rain and rough seas. As a result, it is advisable to visit the island during the dry season, from late March to October.

The most convenient way to Redang is via ferry. The main jetty to catch the boat is at Merang, which is to the north of Terengganu. The journey takes about 45 minutes to Pasir Panjang, a favourite beach on the island. Redang occupies a land area of about 7km long and 6km wide. The size makes the island too small enough to walk around without getting lost. There are many resorts and accommodations available on the Isle. It is also home to numerous colourful coral reefs, many within 50 feet of the shore.
