Pulau Tinggi, Mersing, Johor is located 32 km southeast of Mersing Town. The island is blessed with natural fresh water and a sheltered harbor, making it a stopover for fishermen and traders in the olden days. Pulau Tinggi is also home to the Pulau Tinggi Marine Park, which is in charge of the waters and 12 other islands around Pulau Tinggi. There is a small museum at the center that provides useful information about its works in turtle hatchery as well as conserving and protecting the nature ecology and surrounding habitats.
You can spend a night at the island’s only resort, the TAd Marine Resort (TMR) where you can enjoy numerous water sports such as snorkeling, scuba diving, canoeing and fishing on the island. In additional to the conventional water sports, you can also take a hike up the 600m tall hill. The hill lies in the backdrop of the white sandy beach, clear blue waters, and abundant marine life. Always get a guide or local with you as the trail is not clearly marked. After about 40 minutes of hiking to mid-point, you will reach a nice waterfall which falls 6m into a natural lagoon where you can enjoy a relaxing swim and soak your troubles away.
